Katherine Dowsett
Toronto Daily Star, 6 June 1959

Katherine Dowsett was the daughter of a British shipping tycoon. When she was 20 years old, she fell in love with
Edward Langley, described here as a former truck driver and elsewhere as a socialite. The couple attempted to elope but were tracked down before the marriage ceremony had been
performed. They were barred by legal order from seeing each other again.
Searches yielded some additional information:
- There is a Getty Images photograph of Ms. Dowsett and Mr. Langley returning in a car after their marriage had been stopped.
- Ms. Dowsett married Michael Barclay in 1961.
- Seemingly undeterred, Mr. Langley went on to pursue another young heiress, Mary June Moore. The couple were
photographed
together in 1960. Aghast, her parents threatened to disown her. She was kidnapped from a Chelsea hotel and taken back to her family home.
