Violet Greener

Toronto Daily Star, December 16 1937

Violet Greener has a surprisingly small Internet footprint for somebody who owned an expensive piece of jewelry, especially since she styled herself the Reverend Violet Greener. I found a link to Henry Clifton, a British aristocrat and producer, who gave Rev. Greener 40,000 pounds and some valuable jewelry in the 1930s. Presumably, this included the piece shown above.

Rev. Greener was apparently the head of the Agabeg Occult Temple, whose priestess had violet hair. It's probably not a coincidence that the head of the temple was named Violet and its priestess had violet hair, but you never know.

I also found a press photograph of Rev. Greener. I have no idea why she was called "The Ghost of Hollywood".
