Charley Paddock (1900-1943) won a gold medal in the 100-metre dash and the 4x100 metre relay at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp. He also placed second in the 200-metre dash. In 1921, he set a time of 10.2 seconds in the 110-yard dash, which is a bit more than 100 metres; no one ran this fast until 1956. He also won a silver medal in the 200-metre dash in the 1924 Games.
Paddock served as a member of Major General William Upshur's staff. He and Upshur were killed in 1943 in a plane crash in Alaska.
I could find no reference to Charles Paddock Jr., so I assume that the boy did not have a successful career as a sprinter.
