Here's a series of photographs showing the foreman of the Star's composing room, who had been with the paper from its beginnings in 1892.
Sure enough, I checked back in the Toronto city directories and found W. H. Parr listed in the 1893 directory. His occupation was foreman at the Star.
I tried tracing Mr. Parr in the directories after he retired to find out, somewhat morbidly, how long he was able to enjoy retirement. The 1932 directory lists W. H. Parr and W. H. Parr Junior, while the 1933 directory only lists a single entry for W. H. Parr. This suggests that the senior Parr lasted about three years into retirement before passing away.
