Gilbert Yates
Toronto Daily Star, October 3 1933

If you think you're having a bad day, consider the plight of Gilbert Yates, reported in this edition of the Toronto Daily Star. He was struck on the head by a randomly thrown bottle while walking down the sidewalk near Dundas Square.
I tried to trace poor young Mr. Yates in the Toronto city directories, but I'm not sure that I found him:
- The 1933 directory lists a Gilbert B. Yates working as a clerk at Shell Oil and living at 27 Emerson Avenue.
- The 1934 directory lists him as Gilchrist B. Yates, still at Shell Oil, and living at 1078 Dovercourt Road. This might be him.
- If this is him, he survived the tossed bottle - the 1935 directory lists Gilchrist B. Yates as still at Shell Oil, and now at 27 Close Avenue.
