This is a fragment from an episode of Ted Mack's Amateur Hour broadcast in 1961; it's yet another video I saw on DJ Pierre Noll's YouTube video stream. This is definitely a period piece from the early 1960s: the matching suits, the co-ordinated dance steps, the random surf-style guitar, and even a drum solo! The lead singer is a bit adenoidal and is frat-boy annoying, but he sure has some really funky dance moves. (It's also interesting to notice that at least one of the guitarists looks a little scared out there.)
The Continentals were from Mamaroneck, New York. They don't seem to have ever recorded anything. A Facebook post states that the band's members were Richard Frank, Robert Sarlo, Ricky Mangone, Joseph Messina, and Ralph DiForio. The longest post I could find on The Continentals was this blog post from 2017; this writer absolutely hated them.
