The Aquatones were three young doo-wop singers from Valley Stream, New York, fronted by 17-year-old Lynne Nixon, who was a soprano with opera training. "You" was their first single; it reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100. My thought on listening to this was that Ms. Nixon's voice would have come through better in a more modern recording - the high notes would have been clearer.
Subsequent singles were unsuccessful and the group split up by 1964. In 1998, the Aquatones got back together with new lead singer Colette Delaney and recorded an album. Lynne Nixon passed away in 2001; she was only 59 when she died.
