This is obscure enough that I couldn't find it on YouTube. The Museum of Canadian Music website has a link to it, which is how I was able to listen to it. I think it's a parody of cowboy songs of that era. I'm not sure that I like this song but I don't think I've ever heard anything like it, which is partly why I do this.
Al Boliska (1932-1972) was a Canadian disk jockey, best-known for being the morning man at radio station CHUM from 1957 to 1963. His program featured a daily "World's Worst Joke" that was eventually syndicated across North America. (When I was young, I owned a copy of a collection of Boliska's jokes, which is why I remembered his name.)
Boliska went on to host the Canadian TV show Party Game in its first season before being replaced by Bill Walker. He passed away the night before his 40th birthday from an acute lung obstruction.
