This is a song suitable for listening to when you're travelling somewhere on a summer vacation in Ontario. It's not particularly deep or meaningful but not everything is.
Bond were from Toronto and formed in the late 1960s as Common Bond before shortening their name. They went through numerous personnel changes during their lifetime.
"Dancin' (On a Saturday Night)" was originally co-written and performed by Barry Blue, who reached #2 in the UK with it in 1973; his version has more of a British glam-rock feel to it. Bond's version reached the top 20 nationally in Canada but didn't chart anywhere else.
Bond split up in 1978. Some of their band members went on to play with other Canadian bands, including Chilliwack, Crowbar, and The Ian Thomas Band.
