Wikipedia claims that Jo Ann Campbell, born in 1938, was one of the pioneers of rockabilly but, to me, this song has more of a country feel. This might be because the song has a brass section or it just might be because she sings with a bit of a twang. Either way, unfortunately, this song didn't do much for me; I had to hit Pause before it finished.
Ms. Campbell was a dancer when she was a teenager. In 1956, she quit the Johnny Conrad Dancers and became a singer. "Wait A Minute" appears to have been her third single and it did not reach the national U.S. charts; it was only popular locally, including Toronto. Her most successful song was "I'm The Girl From Wolverton Mountain", which reached #38 on the Billboard charts in 1962; this was very definitely a country song.
Ms. Campbell married record producer Troy Seals in 1964 and left the music business.
