Cat Mother and the All Night Newsboys - Good Old Rock and Roll

August 1969 - Weeks On Chart: 12 - Highest Position: 2

This is a medley of songs from the late 1950s. It's fun if a bit soulless; it's the spiritual ancestor of Stars On 45 and other medley songs of the 1980s. I hadn't heard it in ages before playing it just now.

Cat Mother and the All Night Newsboys were originally from New York. "Good Old Rock and Roll" was produced by Jimi Hendrix; it reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Future releases were unsuccessful, and the band eventually relocated to Mendocino, California, to sever ties with their manager. They recorded their last album in 1973 and last performed in 1977.

Created April 7, 2026.
