CCS - Whole Lotta Love

March 1971 - Weeks On Chart: 6 - Highest Position: 11

This song answers the musical question: what would Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" sound like if it were performed by a modern jazz-blues band?

CCS was a group of British studio musicians led by long-time British blues stalwart Alexis Korner. "CCS" apparently stands for "Collective Consciousness Society".

CCS appears never to have charted in the United States but had a few hits in their native UK. "Whole Lotta Love" reached #13 on the UK chart and was used as the theme song for the British music series Top of the Pops for many years. Two singles released in 1971, "Walking" and "Tap Turns on the Water", reached #7 and #5 in Britain but did not get airplay in Toronto. The group broke up in 1973.

I can't leave this page without providing a reference to the Temple City Kazoo Orchestra's version of "Whole Lotta Love". I couldn't finish it but I am fascinated that it exists.
