This is a classic garage rock song from the mid-1960s, possibly the classic garage rock song. I've loved it for years.
Count Five were from San Jose, California and were known for wearing capes when playing live. "Psychotic Reaction" was their first single; it reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The band released singles up until 1969, when they broke up. They reunited for one concert in California in 1987, which was billed as Psychotic Reunion LIVE!. It was probably a fun show.
