Johnny Ferguson - Angela Jones

March 1960 - Weeks On Chart: 10 - Highest Position: 11

This is a winsome little song about high school love. I willingly listened to it twice.

"Angela Jones" was written by John D. Loudermilk, whose most famous song was "Indian Reservation", which Paul Revere and the Raiders took to #1 in 1971. (He also wrote two other songs featured on this website: "Talk Back Trembling Lips" by Ernest Ashworth and "Torture" by Kris Jensen.) It was covered in the UK by Michael Cox; this version was produced by Joe Meek, who is most famous for writing and producing "Telstar".

Johnny Ferguson (1937-2015) was from Nashville. He started his career as a disk jockey in the area before getting the chance to record. After "Angela Jones", he released a couple of other singles in 1960 and 1961 before disappearing into obscurity.

Created January 7, 2026.
