Strictly speaking, The Gaylords were not one-hit wonders, as they charted several times before rock and roll took over the airwaves. Their first single, "Tell Me You're Mine", released in 1952, reached #2 on the Billboard chart and eventually sold over a million copies. On some of their songs, they sang in both English and Italian.
By 1958, The Gaylords were well past their peak of popularity. "Ma Ma Ma Marie" appears to be an attempt to update their sound by adding a bit of rock and roll to it. It only reached #97 on the Billboard pop chart. The Gaylords continued recording until 1964; two of their members performed as a duo until 2003.
