Larry Hall - Sandy

October 1959 - Weeks On Chart: 13 - Highest Position: 6

I found this song a bit too much. Had there been an actual person named Sandy, I expect that she would not have wanted to have been put on a pedestal this high. I couldn't finish it.

"Sandy" was written by country music singer-songwriter Terry Fell, who recorded it himself under the name "Johnny Valentine". This version is still a bit too much and is complete with backing singers.

Larry Hall (1940-1997) was from Hamlet, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati (so it probably didn't qualify as a hamlet). He was a teenager when he hit the charts with "Sandy", reaching #15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Hall released a few more singles up until 1961, without success. After this, he moved to Oregon and became a gentleman farmer. He died at the age of 57 from cancer.
