When I started listening to this, I realized that I had heard it long ago. It seems like a harmless bit of soul music but I saw no real reason to listen to all of it.
J. J. Jackson (born 1942) doesn't appear to be related to any other musical Jacksons. He was from the Bronx and got his first songwriting credit when he was 16. "But It's Alright" was his second single (his first was released three years earlier). It reached #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966 and #45 when it was released again in 1969.
Jackson continued releasing singles up until 1970 and gave it one more go in 1975 but didn't have any other significant successes. He later moved to England and performed on oldies tours into the 21st century.
