This song starts off with a country-style rhythm a bit like that of early Johnny Cash. The "little space girl" in the song is somebody, presumably Jesse Lee Turner, singing in a high-pitched squeaky sound, like The Chipmunks or somebody who has just breathed in a lot of helium. I found it unlistenable. Not everything I discover here is a hidden treasure!
Jesse Lee Turner was born in Addicks, Texas. "The Little Space Girl" reached #20 on the Billboard Top 100 chart. Future singles didn't chart; he released a total of 15 songs during his musical career.
Turner went on to produce, write, and star in the movie Smokey and the Good Time Outlaws in 1978; he also composed and sang several songs in the movie. The "Every '70s Movie" blog has an entry on it - it appears to be a combination of an imitation Burt Reynolds movie and a tale of the music industry.
Turner is still alive as I write this; he turns 88 this year. In recent years, he has turned towards evangelism and - sadly - towards MAGA politics.
