This is an answer record to Roger Miller's "King Of The Road" - it uses the same tune. It has the same finger-snapping lounge-music feel as the original.
Jody Miller (1941-2022) grew up in Blanchard, Oklahoma; she was not related to Roger Miller. "Queen Of The House" reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, #4 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart, #5 on the U.S. country chart, and won a Grammy award in 1966 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. It did not reach any of the Canadian national charts, so it appears to be have been a small local hit in Toronto only.
Ms. Miller had hits in the 1970s covering pop songs for the country music charts, reaching the country top twenty in the 1970s with covers of "He's So Fine", "Baby, I'm Yours", "Be My Baby", and "To Know Him Is To Love Him", among others. She last reached the country top 30 in 1973 with a cover of "The House Of The Rising Sun" and last reached the country top 100 in 1979 with a cover of "Lay a Little Lovin' on Me".
Ms. Miller went into semi-retirement in the 1980s until she recorded an album of American patriotic music, which got the attention of presidential candidate George H. W. Bush. He asked her to perform at some of his campaign events and at his inaugural ball. Starting in 1993, she began recording Christian gospel music and she toured with her daughter and grandson. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2018.
