This is a pleasant enough mid-1960s folk-pop song that features two-part harmony. Musically, it reminds me a lot of "Four Strong Winds"; it doesn't plagiarize but I can't help but think that the composers of this song had the Ian and Sylvia song at least rustling about in their subconsciouses when they wrote it.
Just Us was a duo consisting of session musician Al Gorgoni and songwriter Chip Taylor. "I Can't Grow Peaches On A Cherry Tree" reached #34 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
Just Us produced an album in 1966, also called I Can't Grow Peaches on a Cherry Tree, before each of its members went on to other things. Gorgoni resumed doing session work and played guitar on a number of hit songs in the 1970s and later. Taylor, whose given name was James Wesley Voight and who was the brother of actor Jon Voight, became known for writing "Angel of the Morning" and "Wild Thing". He passed away less than two months ago as I write this.
