This song seems to live at the intersection point between easy listening, jazz, and psychedelia. It's a late 1960s period piece; I didn't feel the need to listen to all of it.
Not surprisingly, given their name, Kensington Market were from Toronto. They recorded an album called Avenue Road, which is even more Toronto. Because of this, "I Would Be The One" seems to have done better in Toronto than elsewhere in Canada, as they only reached #59 nationally. They released a total of seven singles between 1967 and 1969 before breaking up.
