Betty Madigan - Dance Everyone Dance

April 1969 - Weeks On Chart: 5 - Highest Position: 21

The music for this song is the traditional Jewish folk song "Hava Nagila" with new lyrics added. The result is a throwback to the era before rock and roll. (From what I've listened to from this era, I am grateful that rock and roll came along.)

Betty Madigan was from Washington D.C. "Dance Everyone Dance" reached #31 on the Billboard Hot 100. Prior to this, she had charted in 1954 with "Joey".

Ms. Madigan was born in either 1928 or 1930, depending on whether you believe Wikipedia or other sources. She appears to be still alive, as I couldn't find a date of death for her anywhere. The "From The Vaults" blog has a biography of her, which asserts that she retired from music in the 1960s to raise her family and currently lives in Florida.
