This is a big-band song that you can do The Twist to, if this is something that you want to do.
Ronn Metcalfe (1930-1969) was a band leader from St. Catharines, Ontario, who was in charge of a 19-man orchestra. "Twistin' at the Woodchopper's Ball" was an adaptation of "Woodchopper's Ball", a hit for Woody Herman in 1939. It reached #1 in the Canadian charts, though it did not do quite as well in Toronto.
Metcalfe went on to open a nightclub in St. Catharines and a management agency, working to promote the Niagara music scene. He died of a heart attack at the very young age of 38.
