Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers - Monster Mash

October 1962 - Weeks On Chart: 10 - Highest Position: 1

August 1973 - Weeks On Chart: 15 - Highest Position: 1

I'm not sure whether a song qualifies as a one-hit wonder if it charted twice. But I decided that I get to make the rules on this website, so here you go.

"Monster Mash" has actually reached the Billboard 100 chart four times: it was #1 in 1962, #91 in 1970, #1 in 1973, and #30 in 2021. It didn't chart in the UK until 1973, as the BBC banned it in 1962 for being too morbid. As of 2023, it generates $1 million per year in royalties.

Robert George Pickett (1938-2007) did a number of creative things during the rest of his life, many of which were monster-related. These included:

Pickett passed away from leukemia in 2007. By the time of his death, the Monster Mash had become firmly embedded in modern culture, where it shall likely remain. A question, though: is there actually a Monster Mash dance? Wikipedia claims that, to do the Monster Mash, you do the Mashed Potato but also make Frankenstein monster gestures with your arms and hands. So now you know!
