This is a legacy from the era before rock and roll. It has a cheerful upbeat tempo and the singer sounds a bit like Frank Sinatra. But songs from before the rock and roll era aren't really my thing.
"Where The Blue Of The Night (Meets The Gold Of The Day)" was originally performed by Bing Crosby in 1932. It became the theme song for his radio show and he recorded it several more times.
Tommy Mara does not have a large internet footprint. He released a number of singles between 1953 and 1960 without much success. His version of "Where The Blue Of The Night" reached #76 on the Billboard Hot 100, so it did a little better in Toronto than elsewhere.
I couldn't find out much else about him. He was apparently born in 1934. His website has more recent pictures of him, with the most recent being 2003; I don't know whether he is still alive. This Tommy Mara is a different person from the Tommy Mara who was the lead singer in a later incarnation of The Crests (of "Sixteen Candles" fame) before passing away in 2021 at the age of 65.
