This is another song I remember from my long-ago pre-teen years. It reminds me of "yacht rock" songs of later in the decade and, to me, sounds very similar to "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)", also listed on this site. It also belongs in the class of Songs About Musicians Having Fun Instead Of Doing Boring Day Jobs. I find it harmless.
King Harvest originally met up when they were all attending Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. One by one, the four members of the band emigrated to Paris, did some session work, and then joined forces again.
"Dancing In The Moonlight" reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Subsequent singles were unsuccessful and the band broke up in 1976. Some members of King Harvest went on to tour and record with members of The Beach Boys.
