I remember this song from when I was much younger - I think I bought a copy of it. Listening to it so many years later, I'm reminded a bit of the "yacht rock" sound that emerged later in the decade. (It also reminds me of "Dancing In The Moonlight", also featured on this website.) I didn't mind listening to it but I probably won't listen to it again for awhile.
Looking Glass were from New Jersey. "Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)" was, as far as I can tell, their first single release; it reached #1 on the Billboard chart and sold over a million copies, though it only made it to #55 in Britain. In 1973, they made it to #33 on the Billboard chart with "Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne", which has a slightly more urban jazzy feel but is still recognizably Looking Glass. It didn't chart in Toronto.
Looking Glass released their last single in 1974. They then first changed their name to Fallen Angels and then changed it to Starz, becoming more of a hard rock band in the process. The original Looking Glass reunited in 1995 for a "70s Reunion Concert" at Madison Square Garden.
